More than 14,000 strong, Local 1549 Members make New York City happen. We are the 911 workers that handle emergency calls and 311 operators that manage non-emergency calls. We are the HRA employees providing essential assistance and benefits such as Medicaid and SNAP/Food Stamps. From Health + Hospitals to FDNY to ACS, Housing Preservation & Development, Consumer Affairs, Office of Payroll Administration, Sanitation, and Parks & Recreation – AFSCME Local 1549 Members work in nearly every City agency, touching and improving the lives of every New Yorker.
