Local 1549 Employee Recognition Ceremony
October 24, 2025 - 125 Barclay Street New York, NY 10007
In 1964, Local 1549 was established when the American Federation of State, County & Municipal Employees (AFSCME) granted a charter to the new Union for city clerical workers. Lillian Roberts paved the way for city workers to understand the power of the Union. We are forever grateful for her legacy. Thomas Hagan was the first sitting President for the Local.
This is truly a new day as we embark on the journey of moving Local 1549 forward with our new leadership.
We would like to take the time to thank all of our members for your years of service. You are the glue that holds our Union together. Without you, there would be no "us"! Tonight, we are honored to celebrate our brothers and sisters in solidarity.
