Local 1549 Members,


On behalf of the entire Elections Committee, we want to thank everyone who has voted in this election for Local 1549 Officers, Trustees and Delegates.


Nominations opened on October 1, 2024, at an in person two-session special general membership meeting and concluded with electronic nominations on October 2.


Voting opened on November 1, 2024, and closed on November 22, 2024, at 9:00 AM. Counting of the ballots occurred on November 22 after the polls were officially closed. A total of 1059 ballots were cast in this election. The following are the results:


The following are the positions where a candidate received a majority of the votes cast and were thereby elected:

Please note that the majority vote requirement does not apply to the election of District Council 37 Delegates and NYC Central Labor Council Delegates. The candidates below received the most votes and are thereby elected.

The candidates in the following positions did not receive the majority of the votes cast in their elections, requiring runoff elections.


RUN-OFF ELECTIONS (As provided for in the elections notice)

In the event no candidate for a Local Officer or Trustee position receives a majority of the eligible votes cast, a run-off election shall be held. Please note for District Council 37 and NYC Central Labor Council Delegates, the majority vote requirement does not apply to the election of delegates. If necessary, the runoff election will be held from November 26 to December 20, 2024, at 9:00 a.m. Ballots for the runoff election will be mailed on or about November 26 and be counted by AAA on December 20 at 11:00 a.m.


Protests related to the conduct of runoff elections must be submitted to the Election Committee at electionscommittee7@gmail.com. Local Officers, Trustees and Delegates shall be installed and serve a term according to the Local 1549 Constitution. Only upon lifting the administratorship of the Local will the elected Officers and Trustees begin to fulfill their roles under the local Constitution.


(1) LOCAL PRESIDENT:


For this position, no candidate reached a majority. A runoff election will be held between the 2 candidates who received the most votes:


Debbie-Ann Gutierrez and Anthony Lackhan.

(3) SERGEANTS-AT-ARMS:


For this position, only one candidate reached a majority and was elected. A runoff election for the two open Sergeant-At-Arms positions will be held between the 4 candidates who received the next most votes:


Chaundra Smith, Hanzel Espinet-Ortiz, Ebony Whaley, and Jermaine McRae


(4) OFFICERS-AT-LARGE:


For this position, only one candidate reached a majority and was elected. A runoff election for the three open Officers-At-Large positions will be held between the 6 candidates who received the next most votes:


Michael Singletery, Charisse Emery, Shanti McGhee, Julian Jimenez, Felix Camero, and Elson Primus
