Local 1549 Members,

On behalf of the entire Elections Committee, we want to thank everyone who has participated in the runoff election.

In the original election, the candidates in the following positions did not receive the majority of the votes cast in their elections, requiring the following runoff elections:

(1) LOCAL PRESIDENT:

For this position, no candidate reached a majority. A runoff election was held between the 2 candidates who received the most votes:

Debbie-Ann Gutierrez and Anthony Lackhan.

(3) SERGEANTS-AT-ARMS:

For this position, only the candidate Joseph Rodriguez reached a majority and was elected. A runoff election for the two open Sergeant-At-Arms positions was held between the 4 candidates who received the next most votes:

Chaundra Smith, Hanzel Espinet-Ortiz, Ebony Whaley, and Jermaine McRae

(4) OFFICERS-AT-LARGE:

For this position, only the candidate Sonia Rodriguez reached a majority and was elected. A runoff election for the three open Officers-At-Large positions was held between the 6 candidates who received the next most votes:

Michael Singletery, Charisse Emery, Shanti McGhee, Julian Jimenez, Felix Camero, and Elson Primus

Voting for the runoff opened on November 26, 2024, and closed on December 20, 2024, at 9:00 AM. Counting of the ballots occurred December 20 at 11:00 a.m. after the polls were officially closed. A total of 1136 ballots were cast in this election. The following are the results:

The following is the position where a candidate received a majority of the votes cast and was thereby elected:

(1) LOCAL PRESIDENT:

Anthony Lackhan

A majority was not reached in the positions of Sergents-At-Arms and Officers-At-Large due to an error in the instructions on the runoff ballots. The Elections Committee has determined that a rerun is required for these two offices, due to the fact that this error affected the results.

A rerun will be scheduled.
